Rochester - Christmas Light Capitol of Michigan - 12.26.15
I shoot mostly in Northern Michigan, but around the holidays one of the greatest spots in Michigan is in Rochester, a suburb about a half hour north of Detroit, for its annual Big Bright Light Show.
The Big Bright Light Show features more than a million LED lights in all holiday colors hanging from downtown Rochester's buildings. Downtown Rochester sits along Rochester Road about 30 minutes north of Detroit. It has three blocks of shops, restaurants, and bars with pedestrian friendly sidewalks and ample parking for visitors.
The light show starts around Thanksgiving, goes until New Years, and then re-lights for Rochester's Fire and Ice Festival in mid-January. The lights stay on until midnight, except on holidays when they are on for 24 hours.
